Mikel Obi All Smiles As He Joins Chinese Club

Super Eagles Captain was all smiles after passing his medicals with Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA ahead of the official signing of his £140,000-per-week deal.


The 29-year-old spent almost 11 seasons with premier league giants Chelsea after joining from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo and the Blues were magnanimous enough to allow him leave for free despite his contract remaining six months.
Mikel won 11 titles with Chelsea and played under great managers like Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Luis Felipe Scolari, Andre Vilas Boas, Roberto di Matteo, Guus Hiddink, and Antonio Conte – his wealth of experience will be massive for the Asian side.

FCNaija.com can confirm that Tianjin TEDA will pay Mikel £140,000-per-week which is about £7,280,000 annually – a massive increase from what he earned at Chelsea - £75,000 per week and £3,813,333 annually.

The official presentation date for Mikel is yet to be announced but he will be in good company in the Chinese league with super stars like Carlo Tevez, Oscar, Ezekiel Lavezzi and Obafemi Martins already plying their trade in the league.
