Manchester United:The Highest Paying Football Club In The World

Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic
There is too much money in football. For better or worse, this is one arena that is swimming in money. This is especially true for the English Premier League. People come to the EPL because of all the money they can earn. Even betting odds enthusiasts seem to find particular success with the EPL.
And it looks like Manchester United is sitting atop the pile, exceeding expectations and
understanding with regards to all the money it spends over any given time period. The wages being paid and the transfer fees being charged were already mind-boggling enough for modern football fans to accept.
However, the fact that Manchester United Spends 5.7m a year on average in wages is even more astounding. A survey looked at a little over 10,000 sportsmen. It encompassed over 300 teams, making certain to expand its reach to more than a dozen of the biggest and richest leagues in the world.
And it isn’t that surprising that United seems to spend the most money. How else could they draw so much talent? Manchester United’s squad is one of the best in Europe. They might not be winning right now, but no one can deny all the talent they have within the club.
And to keep all those skilled players happy, you have to pay them well; the like of Paul Pogba, David De Gea, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic earn more money a week than most people can fathom, and their wages will only grow with the passing of time.
This is why the smaller clubs in Europe often struggle to make a splash. They simply cannot afford to pay the best players the sort of wage that would pull them in, which is why Manchester United and its ilk will probably continue dominating in Europe for years to come.
To be fair, Manchester United is only the 4th best-paying sports team in the world. The NBA has the two richest teams (at least with regards to Salary). Major League Baseball (Specifically the New York Yankees), takes the third spot, with United coming in at number four.
The fall in the value of the British Pound has probably negatively impacted Manchester United’s place on the list, though number four isn’t a bad place. They stand ahead of Barcelona, which is the fifth richest team in the world.
At 290,000 a week,Paul Pogba is United’s highest earning player, with Wayne coming in at number two, and then Zlatan at third place.
People have continued to decry all the money in football. While everyone agrees that athletes deserve all the money they get, considering the revenue they generate for their clubs, the fact that such a financially driven league leaves the smaller club with no means of climbing up the ladder is difficult to ignore.
There is no way to change the system as it stands, though, not without causing undue chaos to the entire EPL; and the more money athletes earn, the more fans will expect from them, which can only make football a more entertaining spectacle in the long run.
One thing is for sure; Manchester United athletes won’t be complaining anytime soon about the high wages at the club.
