The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, have suspended six lecturers of the institution, including a Director and Head of Department, over their alleged involvement in result manipulation and gross misconduct.
The affected lecturers were also demoted and barred from any position of authority/responsibility for the next five years with effect from September 27, 2016.
They include the Director of the School of Business and Management Studies, Mr. Mukaila Ademuyiwa; Mr Mutair Ajayi, Head, Department of Accountancy; and Mr Rasheed Oduwole, Lecturer at the Accountancy Department. Others are Dr Munir Adesola, Lecturer; Mr Pius Agbebi, Sub- Dean; and Mr Kayode Ogunwede, Lecturer.
The decision to sanction them followed the consideration of the report of Staff Disciplinary Committee (SDC) of the polytechnic on alleged case of result manipulation in the School of Business and Management Studies. Copies of their letters of suspension obtained yesterday by Saturday Telegraph were signed by the Deputy Registrar (Establishment), S. A. Ashaye.
It was learnt that the lecturers were found culpable of awarding unjustifiable bonus marks to students in the course they examined during the First Semester Examination of the 2015/2016 academic session.
