Real Madrid Star Christiano Ronaldohas claimed that Lionel Messi is not his friend even though they have mutual respect.
Both players have share eight Ballon D’Or between them with the
Argentine edging it with five but the Portuguese is expected to close
the gap as he is favourite to win this year’s award.Ronaldo has constantly proclaimed himself as the best player of
all-time but fans of the Barcelona star believes Messi is a better
player but the Real Madrid star says that there’s no hate between two of
them.
"There is a big mutual respect between myself and Messi," the 31-year-old told Coach Magazine.
"The media like to make out like we have this big rivalry, but we don't.
"It is not like we are good friends, but there is a mutual respect on both sides."
Ronaldo is unperturbed by recent criticisms of his recent poor form and says that he helps toughen him to succeed.
"You have to use negative people and experiences to motivate you," he said.
"I actually need my haters, they have helped me achieve all I have achieved."
