As US General Election Holds,4 Nigerian Americans Are Candidates

Americans in Franklin, New Jersey, will vote for Charles Ejike Onyejiaka, a fellow citizen and a transplant from Imo State, Nigeria, as the U.S. general election unfolds today.
Mr. Onyejiaka, a democrat, is the incumbent in a two-way race for Ward 3 Councilman seat in Franklin.

Lagos State Government has paid N1.5 billion pension entitlement for the month of October, 2016, to 333 retirees in the state.
The beneficiaries are retirees from the Mainstream Civil Service, Local Governments, and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Teachers Establishment and Pensions Office (TEPO) and other parastatals of state government.

US Stock Jumps After FBI Lifts Cloud Over Clinton

US stock futures jumped after the FBI reaffirmed Sunday its decision to not prosecute Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over her use of private email while secretary of state.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced a review of newly discovered emails had provided no reason to alter its July decision that Clinton and her aides’ use of the private server for official documents, while “reckless,” did not warrant criminal charges.

The Government of Oyo on Monday reduced the salaries of all political appointees in the state by 50 per cent.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Ali, said the decision was taken at the last Executive Council meeting in the state.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, at the weekend paid a surprise visit to former governor Segun Oni at his Ifaki Ekiti country home.

The Nigerian military on Monday buried the deceased Commander of the 272 Special Task Force Tanks Battalion, Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu Ali and five other soldiers at the Nigerian Military Cemetery, Abuja.
Staff Sgt. Muazu Ibrahim, Sgt Husseini Jafaru, Sgt Okon Bassey, Cpl Chukwu Simon, PTE Salishu Lawal, and Able Seaman Patrick Paul.

A sharp earthquake centred near one of the world’s key oil hubs Sunday night triggered fears that the magnitude 5.0 tremor might have damaged key infrastructure in addition to causing what police described as “quite a bit of damage” in the Oklahoma prairie town of Cushing.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission said it and the Oklahoma Geological Survey were investigating after the quake, which struck at 7:44 p.m. and was felt as far away as Iowa, Illinois and Texas.

The Rivers state command of the Nigeria police force says it has arrested three persons for allegedly printing fake ballot papers for the re-run legislative election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed December 10 for the election.
Nnamdi Omoni, public relations officer of the command, told NAN that the suspects were arrested on Saturday at D/Line area of Port Harcourt.

The Nigerian Navy has launched ‘Exercise Sharkbite’ at the Eastern Naval Command with a view to intensifying the fight against sea pirates and other criminals under the command’s coverage.
